RELLIS Fire Science Tour
Description
Who will I meet with, and where do I go?
You will meet Jason Loyd, the Fire Science Program Director, on the 3rd floor of the Academic Complex 1 (Office 346). He will welcome you, outline what to expect, and guide you through the day’s schedule.
What happens if the weather is bad or something changes?
If there are inclement weather, safety concerns, or any unexpected schedule changes, Jason will contact you directly with updates before your visit. If the weather to too severe, ice, tornado, high winds, please contact Jason for an update.
What happens if I cannot make it to my scheduled tour?
If you are unable to attend, simply contact Jason Loyd as soon as possible to let him know. He will work with you to reschedule your visit or provide alternate information if needed. Because the Fire Field involves safety‑coordinated access, advance notice is important so arrangements can be adjusted accordingly.
Fire Science–Related Degree Options at Blinn
AAS in Fire Science Technology
This degree combines classroom learning with hands‑on fire protection and emergency response training. Students participate in practical instruction at the Brayton Fire Training Field through Blinn’s partnership with TEEX. Graduates commonly pursue careers as municipal firefighters, emergency responders, or entry‑level fire prevention personnel.
Fire Science Certificate
The certificate provides foundational knowledge in fire science for students seeking rapid entry into the field or preparing for Fire Academy coursework. It aligns with Blinn’s core fire science curriculum and can be applied toward the AAS degree.
AAS in Fire Safety & Health
This program prepares students for safety‑focused roles such as occupational health and safety specialists, safety technicians, and emergency management support staff. Coursework includes OSHA regulations, accident prevention, fire chemistry, and an industry internship. National demand for these careers continues to grow.

There are free visitor parking spots in the circle drive, located in front of the Blinn-RELLIS Administration Building (The building with the flag poles in front). Space is limited, please plan accordingly.
You may also park in lot 1000, across the street from the Blinn- Administration building. The address is 3100 TX-47, Bryan, TX, 77807. This parking lot is owned by TAMU Transportation and vehicles will be ticketed if you have not paid for parking. To pay for parking please visit Pay Hourly Parking by Phone. The RELLIS code is 7743.

Yes, we do offer endowed scholarships for students enrolled in the AAS programs. Please note that the certificate program is not eligible for FAFSA, however, you may still use VA benefits and other non-federal financial aid options.
Yes, you must be EMT certified to complete the AAS in Fire Science and Fire Science Certificate Level 1. You do not need it for the AAS in Fire Safey and Health.
