Faculty Piano Recital Featuring Mr. John Dujka
Description
Enjoy a lovely evening of piano playing from Blinn College's own John Dujka.
A well-known musician, educator, and entertainer throughout Texas and nationally, John Dujka earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance at the University of Houston Moores School of Music where he studied with Albert Hirsh, Ruth Tomfohrde and Abbey Simon. A member of the Blinn College faculty since 1990, Mr. Dujka is Professor of Piano and Music Theory and has had numerous students go into careers in music education. He also maintains a private piano studio in Brenham, and is a member of the Texas Music Teachers Association and Brenham Area Music Teachers Association. He regularly serves as an adjudicator for the National Guild of Piano Teachers auditions and other piano competitions in the area. Mr. Dujka also is the founder of the annual Blinn College Young Pianists Competition.
Along with numerous concert and recitals over his career, Mr. Dujka has been a featured soloist with the Blinn College Symphonic Band performing Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" and Grieg's "Piano Concerto in A minor". Mr. Dujka is a versatile musician who is at home performing classical repertoire, Czech and German folk music, Hebrew music, and country/jazz/pop styles. He and his brother Mark also have entertained as “The Dujka Brothers” since 1986, and are frequently featured at festivals and celebrations across Texas, as well as on the nationally televised “Mollie B Polka Party” on RFD-TV. Mr. Dujka also produces “Saturday Morning Dance Time”, a weekly radio program aired on KULP 1390 in El Campo, TX since 2003.
